Capacity Building and International Standard Compliance

The training course saw the active participation of 28 group leaders and village heads representing key raw material areas, alongside 5 dedicated agricultural management officers from Phuc Sinh Son La.

The primary objective of the ToT program was to provide in-depth knowledge and raise awareness regarding the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). This regulation serves as a stringent, mandatory technical barrier for agricultural products imported into the European market. Consequently, the course aimed to standardize and promote Arabica coffee production processes in strict accordance with global sustainability standards.

Intensive Training Combined with Practical Application

Throughout the 3-day training, the curriculum was designed to integrate scientific theory with hands-on practice directly at the coffee farms. The expert team equipped the trainees with critical agricultural practices:

  • Seedling Management and Soil Health: Enhancing crop quality from the foundational stage and maintaining soil fertility.
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Applying biological methods and controlling pest risks, thereby minimizing negative impacts on the natural environment.
  • Pruning and Canopy Management: Optimizing growth space to improve coffee bean yield and overall quality.

Notably, the class strongly emphasized practical exercises in polygon geolocation mapping. This is a crucial operation for digitizing growing areas, ensuring precise traceability down to individual farming households—a fundamental prerequisite for establishing a transparent supply chain under EUDR compliance.

Scaling Up Green Agricultural Values

Upon completion of the course, the capacity of the core trainer network (ToT) was comprehensively strengthened. This core force is now fully prepared to return to their local communities to directly conduct subsequent training sessions and transfer these advanced farming techniques to thousands of farmers across the affiliated areas.
